Chroma adopts sustainable practices and drives a new future of carbon reduction

06 Apr 2022

According to statistics from the International Energy Agency (IEA), nearly a quarter of the world's carbon emissions come from transportation. Therefore, in addition to the impact of vehicle-related infrastructure on the environment and ecology, the efficiency of transportation means needs to be considered as well to achieve environmental sustainability. To cope with the development trend of energy-saving and carbon reduction, Chroma ATE proactively invests in electric vehicle-related fields to provide comprehensive testing solutions and electric drive.

Chroma 8600 & 1210 Series E-Propulsion test systems provide integrated testing and power stage hardware-in-the-loop verification for EV motors, motor controllers, drive systems, battery packs, battery modules, OBC/DC-DC converter systems, and other related components. Combining with Chroma 17040 Series Battery Pack Charge/Discharge Test System, it not only can realize the power stage simulation to mimic the vehicle driving conditions but also simulate the system's abnormal state for failure mode analysis, reducing the product development risk and improving test efficiency. For EV power supply/charging station test, Chroma 8000 ATS supports SAE, IEC, GB, ISO, DIN, and CHAdeMO charging standards. Its flexible architecture and friendly software platform can simulate the behavior of electric vehicles under different conditions to meet customized requirements and safeguard the charging quality.

CP300-F1 is a 300kW 6-phase motor control unit specifically developed for 12M electric bus application. Integrated with interior permanent magnet motor, CP300-F1 e-drive system can achieve 3,200Nm max. torque, >20% max. gradeability, and 100km/h top speed, which meet the vehicle performance requirements of 12M e-bus suitable for both metropolitan and intercity services. The system can switch between 3-phase and 6-phase automatically according to the driving condition, increasing the energy efficiency. As for low speed EV, CR Series motor controllers provide rated output power ranging from 10kW to 15kW, which are suitable for 3-wheeler and 4-wheeler electric vehicle applications, including forklift, truck, and sightseeing cart, etc. SMARTuning® software with auto-tuning function can speed up the motor and controller system integration within 5 minutes with more than 90% optimization accuracy, without having to spend significant amount of time, 3~5 days, for dynamometer testing in lab.

AMPA Taipei International Automobile and Motorcycle Parts and Accessories show will take place from April 20 to 23, 2022. Chroma ATE will exhibit EV test and powertrain solutions in Taipei Nangang Exhibition Hall 1, 1F (Booth: K0210), and demonstrate the electric formula car that NTHU Racing Team used to compete in Formula SAE Japan. We sincerely invite you to experience the newest trends of smart transportation and look forward to seeing you at the event!
