Currently, high-definition display, high-speed internet access and multi-core processors are the basic specification requirements for mobile devices. However, all of these capabilities consume battery energy rapidly. To solve the battery endurance problem, battery suppliers have to improve the battery performance by designing a more lasting battery with greater capacity, yet the long charging time has become another problem. The Quick Charge 2.0 protocols released by Qualcomm is able to accelerate the mobile device charging speed up to 75% comparing to the traditional USB power transmission technology. In this rapid changing technology age, Chroma ATE Inc., with 30 years of abundant experiences in power supply testing field was able to rapidly launch a battery charger test system that supports Quick Charge 2.0 function for testing.

The Quick Charge 2.0 will become the standard of micro-USB AC-DC wall-plugged charger. When the charger detects the commands sent by the device that supports Q.C 2.0, it will automatically adjust the output voltage (5V, 9V, 12V, 24V) to achieve the purpose of fast battery charging and greater power output. The Q.C 2.0 device simulator developed by Chroma, besides simulating the output voltage commands to test the charger if outputting the mapped voltage, or simulate non-standard Q.C 2.0 voltage command range to verify if the charger reaction is expected, it can also simulate when Q.C 2.0 device is removed from charger, and see if it stops immediately during higher voltage output to ensure safe charging.
