National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) and Chroma ATE have long been committed to promoting industry-academia collaboration, fostering technological innovation, and cultivating future talent. To further strengthen the integration of academic research with industrial applications, Chroma and Taiwan Tech have officially launched the 3rd Chroma Thesis Award. Organized by Taiwan Tech’s Industry-Academia Innovation College (INNC), this year's award invites master's and doctoral students, as well as graduating students from universities across Taiwan, to participate. The program encourages young researchers to transform academic achievements into practical applications and inject new momentum into Taiwan's technology industry.
To encourage outstanding thesis submissions, the 3rd Chroma Thesis Award offers awards in two major categories: Power Electronics Technologies and Semiconductor Testing Technologies. Each category includes a Grand Prize (NT$200,000), Excellence Award (NT$100,000), and Merit Award (NT$20,000), with a total prize pool of NT$1.5 million.

Compared with the previous two editions, which focused primarily on precision machinery and measurement technologies, the scope of the 3rd Chroma Thesis Award has been further expanded to address emerging industry trends and technological demands. This year's competition is divided into two major categories—Power Electronics Technologies and Semiconductor Testing Technologies—covering eight key fields, including power conversion, electric vehicle powertrain systems, thermal management, semiconductor process defect and critical dimension measurement, silicon photonics and high-frequency/high-speed digital ICs, intelligent equipment operation and maintenance, micro-/nano-scale precision measurement and control, and power device testing technologies. Through these topics, the award encourages students to pursue cutting-edge research and explore innovative applications.
The launch ceremony for the 3rd Chroma Thesis Award was held on March 21, jointly hosted by Taiwan Tech President Jia-Yush Yen, Dean Huang-Jen Chiu of the Industry-Academia Innovation College, I-Shih Tseng, President of Chroma ATE's Integrated System Solutions Business Unit, and Paul Ying, Chairman of the Chroma Foundation, symbolizing another important milestone in advancing technological innovation through collaboration between academia and industry.
