Purpose-built for advanced car display specifications and extreme power conditions
As the automotive display market continues to grow, smart vehicles are increasingly equipped with multiple displays—from instrument clusters and infotainment systems to center consoles, rearview mirrors, and heads-up displays. The trend toward "multi-screen cars" is becoming more pronounced, with a variety of display signal formats dictated by different automakers, OEMs, and use cases. To meet the diverse and evolving test requirements this brings along, Chroma introduces the all-new 27016 Integration Tester. This compact platform supports FPD-Link™, GMSL™, and APIX® signal interfaces and includes programmable power output. By integrating software, hardware, and firmware into a single unit, the 27016 can test multiple signal sources while simulating extreme power conditions, helping identify vulnerabilities and greatly improving product quality.
The Chroma 27016 Integration Tester features a dual-slot architecture that allows independent and simultaneous operation of signal interface modules (A27016x Series) and power modules (A67390x Series) for testing and analysis. Its compact A4-sized footprint makes it portable and adaptable to various environments, including R&D labs, production lines, and service centers. The tester offers multiple flexible control methods to meet different application needs. When used as a standalone unit, it can be connected to a PC via Ethernet for full-featured control. For expanded functionality, multiple systems can be connected together. In automated production environments, the Smart I/O port enables seamless handshake and logistics control with PLC systems. A USB port is also provided for firmware and image file updates. In addition, the 27016 supports most commercially available infrared (IR) remote controllers, allowing users to define custom control keys for personalized and convenient remote operation.
Keeping pace with the changing designs of in-car displays, the A270163 FPD-Link™ Signal Module supports testing of devices with a wide range of distinct aspect ratios. Test parameters can be freely configured to match specific requirements. Each single port supports five selectable lane rates—3.375, 6.75, 10.8, 12.528, and 13.5 Gbps—while dual-port operation can deliver up to 27 Gbps. This supports up to 8K resolution or refresh rates of up to 240Hz. The module is equipped with single-ended or differential dual outputs and features daisy chaining and signal splitting capabilities. This allows users to link multiple displays together and enables a single FPD-Link™ signal source to drive several devices under test, greatly simplifying cable management.
It also supports simultaneous multi-stream output (up to four streams) and comes preloaded with a variety of DMS (Display Measurement Specifications) test patterns defined by the DFF (Deutsches Flachdisplay Forum). Additional built-in features include high-capacity eMMC storage for user-defined patterns and a BIST (Built-In Self-Test) mode, delivering a comprehensive testing solution for automotive display applications.
Automotive power systems must be rigorously tested to ensure they can withstand complex and harsh real-life conditions. The A673905 Power Module addresses this need with its robust power transient testing capabilities for 12V, 24V, and 48V systems. It can simulate events such as cold cranking, load dumps, load/unload, as well as gradual rise and fall margin tests, helping engineers identify potential product failures. The module supports precise control of voltage and current slew rates and offers high-accuracy voltage and current measurement down to the mV and μA levels. With dual output channels covering 150W + 15W, the A673905 provides a full-featured testing solution for automotive power systems.
Supporting a broad range of automotive signal interfaces including FPD-Link™, GMSL™, and APIX®, and with seamless integration of a programmable power module, the Chroma 27016 delivers a holistic and versatile test solution for verifying signal integrity and conducting power disturbance and compatibility testing for automotive display systems.
